My group and I focused on improving the social integration between local students and international students who often struggle with isolation, cultural differences, and difficulty forming meaningful connections. To better understand these challenges, we conducted interviews with international students as well as local students, exploring what types of activities they enjoy, what makes socializing easier, and which barriers they currently face.
Based on insights from our research and the thematic analysis, we designed a concept for an app that helps students connect through fun, culturally inclusive challenges and activities. The app "UniTagger" allows students to challenge each other, earn points, participate in quizzes and scavenger hunts, and join community groups that encourage collaboration and communication between local and exchange students.
I created high-fidelity prototypes in Figma, integrating features such as leaderboards, messaging, challenge categories, and social groups. Our prototypes were evaluated through usability testing and interviews.Input from user testing was incorporated into the final prototype to improve usability, inclusivity, and cultural sensitivity.
